TESTIMONIALS

How people have benefited from the Narcaid training courses…

S.B. - Emergency Medical Technician

Just knowing that the clinic is there helps when you get a patient who has used drugs. It’s like having a drug use expert standing over your shoulder every time you get one of these types of call outs.  Return to Top
T.D. - Paramedic

The virtual clinic is a fantastic resource for anyone doing my job. You can use it to find out more about the drugs that your patients are using and because it includes real cases, it really makes sense when you read it. It gives you a lot more confidence when dealing with drug using patients because you know you can ask any questions and find out more about a specific case.  Return to Top
T.J. - North East Ambulance Service

Unlike some distance learning, when you said you could be contacted, you were. Your e-mails and critiques were extremely helpful and more importantly, I was not afraid to ask. Any questions I asked were answered and backed up with literature and references. Tutor always returned calls and very helpful. I felt in no way intimidated or made to feel stupid. (Thanks).

Thanks for all your help and encouragement. I have really got my teeth into this subject. I know my approach and treatment regime has improved towards this type of patient. Directly affecting my actions was the Narcaid course. I saw tell tale signs and therefore looked deeper... I anticipated the problems therefore reactions were planned and not panic driven... result, patient is alive.

Pharmacological study opportunity is limited in paramedical education. Recreational drug use/abuse is highly relevant knowledge to have in our roles but is otherwise difficult knowledge to obtain. Thank you so much for this valuable educational opportunity.  Return to Top
J.B. - London Ambulance Service

Since starting this course, I have been able to have a greater knowledge of more drugs on the street. The study of other drugs available has allowed me to have an idea of what to expect from patients and what to look out for hence improving care and skills.  Return to Top
P.I. - South East Coast Ambulance Service

V.G. - South Western Ambulance Service

I do not believe that the appearance and presentation of this course should be altered in any way. It's well set out and easy to understand whilst at the same time providing realms of information to people in emergency care settings.  Return to Top

Drug education is very hit'n'miss, and not taught a great deal professionally - this project helps to fill that gap!  Return to Top

The service offered by the Narcaid ECODA Unit is designed for professional ambulance personnel and other emergency care practitioners. Our training programmes are designed to teach drug awareness (rather than medical skills) to inform clinical judgment. Individual clinical judgment must be exercised in each presentation according to pre-existing training.
